The Diosdado Macapagal International Airport in Clark, Pampanga is popular among budget travelers/backpackers. Several of Southeast Asia's best budget airlines serve the airport including Cebu Pacific, Air Asia and Tiger Airways. When I first used Air Asia, (Feb. 8, 2010) I struggled on how exactly to get to Clark from Metro Manila.

In my case, (which might also be your case if you miss the scheduled and synchronized Philtranco trips from SM Megamall in Ortigas) I took the Five Star™ Bus from Cubao to Dau in Tarlac. It took me around an hour. From Dau, I took a tricycle to Clark Freeport Main Gate. You may also want to take a jeepney if you’re not really on a rush or I have heard that DIMA air-conditioned jeepneys are now serving Dau-DMIA-Dau route. Verify this. But then again, if you’re on a rush, from the main gate, renting a jeepney for 200 pesos going to DMIA is your best choice but it surely sounds like a rip off.

Your best choice of course, if you’re not like me who’s always rushing to catch a flight, is to take the synchronized trips of Philtranco Bus Lines from SM Megamall Building A. Bus schedules match DMIA’s Air Asia flight times. That will cost you 300 pesos, one way. If you’re taking Tiger Airways, Spirit of Manila or Cebu Pacific, you may still use Philtranco’s synchronized bus service from SM Megamall but I guess you have to analyze it yourself which trips are the safest for you not to miss your flight.

thanks... i think if the schedule is still the same (will verify.. :-), I can take the first trip of Philtranco from Meagamall-Cubao to catch on my 7am flight to Clark going HK.
